Bangladesh is an exciting and affordable place to live and visit. Historical and archaeological sites dot the countryside, some dating as far back as the third century, B.C. Today, Bangladesh is home to some of the major religions of the world. Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity are all found here. Owing to a long tradition of tolerance, there is no communal animosity or ethnic controversy in Bangladesh. the constitution of the country guarantees full freedom of religion and there is no discrimination based on race, religion, caste, sex or place of birth. Above all the Bangladeshi people are by nature very polite, courteous, friendly and hospitable.

Economic performance has its positive surprises too. Bangladesh is the tenth most rapidly growing economy among 31 large developing countries with populations above 20 million, with GDP growth averaging 5 percent since 1990s. Income poverty in Bangladesh declined by 1 percentage point per year since 1990—faster than almost all developing countries. Macroeconomic management, whether measured by fiscal deficit, inflation, or debt management compares favorably with other countries in the region. Budgetary policy—as illustrated by the proportion of spending on health and education, by the share of capital expenditures, or the share of military expenditures in the total—also compare well in a regional context. External debt is low, and reserves and the exchange rate have been stable. The financial sector as a whole is also showing signs of stability with reforms underway in the banking sector, along with more effective money loan courts and supervision of the Bangladesh bank. Bangladesh is in good standing with the IMF. There is also improvement in the overall investment climate as reflected by visible growth in both  FDI and domestic investments, as well new large-sized FDI proposals like that from TATA. These are no mean achievements.
